December 2024
This is an email I received when I asked for confirmation of their address early in November.
“Hello,
Thank you for the email. Yes, your information is correct, we (3-29FA) are going home and all of us should be home for Christmas. We are being replaced by 4-1 FA from Fort Bliss, TX. they are slowly arriving as we are as slowly making our way out. They will be at FOS Torun in full strength by the middle of December. For many of them it will be the first time away from home for Christmas. If you could include them in your holiday stockings ‘program’ I am sure it will make their Christmas time more joyful.
3-29 FA soldiers have greatly appreciated many packages they have received from ‘Operation Quiet Comfort.’ Thank you for your help through which I was able to help our Soldiers, especially during our long field days.
Sincerely,
CH (CPT) Lukasz Kozlowski
BN Chaplain”
NOTE: Of course we sent packages to this unit.
Here is another reply we received when verifying addresses in early November.
“Good Morning Jan,
I will not be here during the Christmas holiday, but there will be a lot of Soldiers here in middle-of-no-where Poland. My incoming Chaplain replacement will be Chaplain (CPT) Peter Rose and his address will be the same as before:
God bless you all for everything you do for us and all the Soldiers of America!
Very respectfully,
CH (CPT) Brandon R Boyles”
NOTE: And, yes, we sent them Christmas packages.

“Thank you for the care packages
Good day Ken & Jan,
My name is Carlo P. and I am one of the coordinators for the care packages for my unit. On behalf of my unit, I am thanking you for your unwavering support for military service members. Your care packages brought a lot of smiles, boost morale and comfort from all of us here. Thank you for thinking of us. I would like to share some photos of my Unit and when I am given a chance for better internet connection I would send you photos of fellow sailors receiving care packages.
1.) This is the work center I work with aboard we are both supply personnel and aviation admin personnel.
2.) This is the whole unit whom I work with every day.
We are planning a way to share your kindness throughout the ship to not only boost our morale but for everyone aboard.
We appreciate all you do! I will get back to you for the numbers approximately for our male personnel and female personnel.
Again thank you.
Very Respectfully,
LS2 Carlo P. USN”
Unpacking care packages
“Hello,
I hope this find you in good health and spirit. I would like to say thank you for the care packages that you sent me. I really appreciate them. It is such a pleasure to know someone is thinking of you and supporting you. I will be leaving this place in January. There are a few soldiers I would like to add to your mailing list. (we have added them) They are expecting to leave around springtime. I hope this is helpful information.
Thank you very much

“Hello, Operation: Quiet Comfort
Words cannot describe the smiles and happiness I saw on sailors faces when they opened the care packages. We recently just departed for a 8-to-9-month deployment you should’ve seen it, it was like Christmas in September. I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the time and appreciation to everyone that put their heart and care in every single box. I am the Post Master onboard the USS HARRY S TRUMAN CVN 75. I work in the post office where I assisted in delivering these care packages to the sailors. I would like to assist and put my name down to help and bring more support & Happiness to our sailors onboard.
COPE

Another thank you we received recently.
“Dear Operation: Quiet Comfort Team, I wanted to reach out to you and thank you for your kind gift of care items for the men and women of the US Armed Forces. Our team of volunteers at the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces had the privilege of helping to receive and distribute your wonderful donation. These care items will make a great difference in the lives of service members living and serving far from home and country. Please accept my profound gratitude on their behalf.”
We received this message and photos. Note the smiles!
“Sir/ma’am,
Thank you again for your thoughtful care packages.”

We received this email from the front:
“Dear Ken and Jan,
My name is QM1 Jonathan W., and I am the Leading Petty Officer for Navigation Division on USS Wasp (LHD-1). Two days ago, my crew received a care package from your organization. I want to thank you for everything you sent, and please know that I hold you in the highest regard. Doing my best to read the hand-written names of the people who prepared our package, please say HUGE thank you to Karen, Don, Kathy, Pam, Peggy, Maureen, Linda, Doreen and Sherri.
Anyway, the crew is very thankful and all of the items were evenly distributed. Not a single thing went to waste.
If you would consider sending more in the future, no changes are requested.
Thanks again, and Bless you all!”
